Cole Schotz adds special counsel to IP team

Cole Schotz has appointed special counsel Marcella Bodner to its New Jersey office, continuing its efforts to expand its IP department.

Bodner has nearly 20 years of experience in patent portfolio development, licensing arrangements, and IP enforcement. She has appeared in front of the European Patent Office and US federal courts, among others.

Over the course of her career Bodner has prepared and prosecuted patent applications worldwide. She advises clients engaged in collaborations and joint ventures, assisting with the transfer of patents, joint venture agreements, and technology licensing.

Bodner has a degree in chemical engineering and applies her scientific background to her work. Bodner’s technical expertise includes working with chemical compositions and methods, health and beauty products, pharmaceuticals, mechanical devices, and medical equipment.

David Kohane, co-chair of the firm’s IP department, said Bodner is a valuable addition to the IP team.

Kohane explained: “Her broad science and technology background and experience in prosecuting patent applications inside and outside the US will enhance our ability to assist clients with developing effective IP strategies.”

Last month Cole Schotz appointed William Stroever as partner and co-chair of its IP department. He is also based in New Jersey.
