Bird & Bird LLP has promoted four IP attorneys to partner across its international offices.

Bird & Bird LLP has promoted four IP attorneys to partner across its international offices. The new partners are Ulrike Gruebler, Lars Huisman, Jennifer Jones and Anna Wolters.

Gruebler, based in Bird & Bird’s Hamburg office which opened in May 2011, practises both contentious and noncontentious IP law, largely within the media sector, which is a strong focus there.

Huisman, from The Hague, is an IP lawyer working particularly with clients in the fields of life sciences and agriculture/food.

Jones is a London-based IP lawyer with a strong focus on life sciences. Before turning to law she studied and researched in the field of biotechnology.

Wolters, from the Düsseldorf office, practises IP law, particularly patent litigation and pharmaceutical law, and also has a strong life sciences sector focus. She has a doctorate in the patentability of biotechnology inventions.

The firm promoted 12 laywers in total, across disciplines. They bring the total number of internal promotions to partner to 15 since the beginning of the current financial year, alongside 20 lateral partner hires in the same period.

David Kerr, chief executive, said: “It’s always great to see our talented lawyers develop and we’re delighted to make these promotions. These appointments demonstrate the strength of expertise we have in our sector groups and across our international offices. I look forward to seeing how these new partners further build our offering to key industry targets across the world.”
