Baylos hires former EPO vice president
Alberto Casado Cerviño, the European Patent Office’s (EPO) former vice president, has joined Spanish IP boutique Baylos.
Before serving as the EPO’s vice president between 2012 and 2018, Cerviño also served as director of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office for four years and as vice president of the European Union Intellectual Property Office for 10 years, since its foundation.
Throughout his career, Cerviño has contributed to the preparation and development of European IP law by being part of the working groups that prepare the drafts of the different directives and regulations.
Since 1984, he has been a regular consultant to the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Cerviño joins Baylos as of counsel.
“With this move, which follows the recent merger with the firm FJF Legal in June 2018 and by tripling its size in only one year, Baylos aspires to become one of the most respected IP firms in the EU while providing the best possible services to its already existing international portfolio of clients,” said a spokesperson for the firm.
