Baker Botts adds five IP lawyers to partnership

Baker Botts has added five IP lawyers to partnership, effective from January 1, 2019.

Matthew Avery, who is based in San Francisco, focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counselling. He deals with patent applications relating to a range of technologies, including medical devices, biotechnology, software, and semiconductors.

In Dallas, Jeff Becker joins the partnership. Becker is a patent attorney with a background in computer engineering and he works across a diverse group of technologies, including telecoms, semiconductors, software, electronics, and robotics.

Austin-based Syed Fareed, who has also been promoted, has litigated patent matters before the district courts, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the US International Trade Commission. His clients come from the software, e-commerce, telecoms, and semiconductor fields.

In Houston, Natalie Gonzales joins the partnership. Her expertise covers patent litigation, prosecution, and licensing and she also has expertise in copyright and trademark infringement disputes.

Finally, Washington, DC-based Jamie Lynn has been promoted. His practice focuses on complex patent litigation in the areas of software, satellite communications, set-top box technology, and semiconductors.

The firm promoted a total of 12 lawyers to partner.
