Our partners at Practice Insight have kindly provided us with data on filings in Germany, listing the five most productive firms in three separate filing categories.
This table represents the total number of patent applications filed in Germany by the given firms between approximately September 2014 and August 2017. The leading firm is Grünecker Patent Und Rechtsanwälte (though many of the applications were filed under the firm’s former name, Grünecker Kinkeldey Stockmaier and Schwanhausser), followed by Hoffmann Eitle.
PCT application volumes are much lower, but for applications published up to the August 27, 2017 where the priority date is on or after May 27, 2015, Epping Hermann Fischer is on top by a large margin, with Grunecker and Hoffman Eilte again making the top five.
Hoffman Eilte and Grünecker are again prominent in the referrals table – this covers the number of applications filed by the given firm between the approximate period of September 2014 and August 2017, where the firm was not responsible for the originating application (in the case of national phase entry and Paris Convention applications), and where that originating application was received from Canada, US, Japan, UK, Spain, Italy, France or Korea.
The data are taken from publicly available sources – due to delays in some publications, the numbers may be less than the actual numbers of applications filed.
