USITC investigates arrow components after patent complaint

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has launched an investigation into arrow rests and components based on a complaint from a bow and arrow manufacturer.

US-based Bear Archery filed its complaint with the ITC on May 4, and the investigation was initiated yesterday, June 6.

Bear Archery complained that several Chinese entities have violated section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing and selling  arrow rests and components into the US that infringe a patent belonging to Bear Archery.

The respondents involved in the allegation include businesses and individuals. They are: 2BULBS Technology; Ningbo Linkboy Outdoor Sports; Shenzhen Keepmyway Tech; Zhengzhou IRQ Outdoor Sports; Wenging Zhang; Tingting Ye; Tao Li; and Sean Yuan.

Bear Archery has asked the ITC to issue a general exclusion order or, alternatively, a limited exclusion order to the respondents.

According to Bear Archery, the respondents infringed its “Arrow rest system and method” patent (US number 6,978,775).

The ITC’s chief administrative law judge (ALJ) will assign the case to an ALJ who will then schedule and hold an evidentiary hearing.

The ALJ will then make an initial determination on whether the entities have violated section 337, and the decision will be subject to review by the ITC, which will set a target date of completing the investigation 45 days after its launch.
