Marks & Clerk appoints new head of trademarks
Law firm Marks & Clerk has announced that Esther Gottschal k has been appointed to lead its trademarks division for Europe.
Gottschalk has been with Marks & Clerk since joining as a trainee in 2001 and became a partner in 2011. She is also the office managing partner of the firm’s Birmingham office.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “It is a privilege to take on this role for Marks & Clerk. I have been with the firm for 22 years and I am proud of its talented and committed trademark team, where we work with fantastic brand holders both in the UK and globally.
“As a management team and as a firm, we are aware that the role of the trademark attorney is constantly evolving and there are opportunities but also challenging times ahead. I want to support the team and add value to our clients as Marks & Clerk continues to support the IP industry at large.”
Gottschalk takes over from Tom Farrand, who is moving to a consultancy position within Marks & Clerk.
Farrand said: “The team have worked hard to support their clients and develop their skills and expertise through and beyond the Brexit period. The trademark industry is going through a period of change and I know Esther will successfully steer the team as Marks & Clerk continues to be an industry leader in the IP field.”
