IPOS elects commercialisation unit chief
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has appointed Ming Tan as managing director of its subsidiary, IPOS International.
Established in August last year, IPOS International was founded to help businesses commercialise their IP in the country and abroad. It houses more than 100 IP experts, focused on areas including IP strategy and management, patent search and analysis, and IP education and training.
Tan, who previously served as head of stewardship at the COMO Group (a Singaporean portfolio of lifestyle companies), will direct the strategic growth and oversee all operations at the subsidiary.
At COMO Group, her responsibilities spanned philanthropy, sustainability, brand and new business development, data protection, and corporate affairs.
She said: “A vibrant economy depends on ideas and innovation. I’m excited to join a team deeply committed to cultivating both within Singapore and the wider region–an effort that requires partnership across and beyond government.”
Daren Tang, chairman of IPOS International and chief executive of IPOS, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ming to IPOS International. Her leadership skills, wide and varied experiences in the private sector, as well as her commitment to philanthropy and social causes, put her in an excellent position to lead IPOS International.”
