Honigman hires ex-Steptoe & Johnson IP head

Honigman has announced that it has hired veteran IP strategist Harold Fox as managing partner of the firm’s new Washington, DC office, as it seeks to expand its presence in the US capital.

Fox joins Honigman from Steptoe & Johnson, where he headed the firm’s IP group and led its US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) practice.

He is experienced in representing clients at the USPTO in post-grant proceedings, as well as the US International Trade Commission and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Fox specialises in tactical IP counselling and strategic patent advice in multiple fields, including chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, physics, chemical engineering and medical devices.

“While Honigman attorneys have served myriad DC clients over the years, establishing a physical presence is the first significant step toward executing our long-term strategic plan to expand in the DC market,” said David Foltyn, chair and CEO of Honigman.

“As a leading force in IP law in the DC area, Harold is the ideal person to lead the way as we seek to grow more of the firm’s core practices in this area by attracting additional top attorneys and expanding our offerings to new and current clients,” he added.
