Former ITC commissioner joins McKool Smith
Scott Kieff, a former commissioner at the US International Trade Commission (ITC), has joined McKool Smith as a principal in the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Kieff served as a commissioner from 2013 to 2017, having been nominated by former US President Barack Obama.
As a trial and patent lawyer, Kieff has represented clients across a range of industries including finance, international trade, and security.
Kieff’s background in molecular genetics contributes to his IP work in biotechnology and medicine, and he has worked across a number of foreign jurisdictions.
Kieff said: “With the fast pace of change these days in the fields of IP, antitrust, and trade, I was looking hard to find teammates who are ready and able to offer a range of creative solutions for helping clients on all sides of commercial disputes.”
David Sochia, McKool Smith’s managing principal, commented: “Scott has a wealth of experience in patent matters and disputes before the ITC. He also has significant expertise in antitrust, trade secret, and false advertising-related cases, all areas in which we are seeing an increased demand for our services.”
