Barnes & Thornburg expands IP team
US-based Barnes & Thornburg has hired a former Brinks Gilson & Lione shareholder into the firm’s IP department.
Peter Nichols has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience. He is the sixth IP practitioner to join Barnes & Thornburg this year.
He focuses his practice on patent procurement strategies, patent portfolio management, US and global utility and design patent applications, and proceedings at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
“Peter shares our collaborative values and commitment to providing quality, effective counsel,” commented Mark Rust, managing partner of the Barnes & Thornburg Chicago office.
“He is a fantastic addition to our Chicago office and will strengthen our IP bench in the region and nationally.”
Nichols represents clients across industry sectors including consumer electronics, mining, and nutritional supplements and cosmetics.
