The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced new members for its patent and trademark advisory committees.
On Monday, January 9, the USPTO announced the committee members for its Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC) and the Trademark Public Advisory Committee (TPAC).
The USPTO’s public advisory committees were created to advise the secretary of commerce and the under secretary of commerce for intellectual property.
The director of the USPTO is also advised on the management of patent and trademark operations.
As part of their role, the public advisory committees review the operations, performance budget and policies of the patent and trademark operations.
Each committee has nine voting members who serve a three-year term.
Marylee Jenkins will serve as chair of the PPAC, Michael Walker as vice-chair and Jeffrey Sears as associate general counsel. Bernard Knight will also join the PPAC.
Joining the TPAC are William Barber, as vice chair, and Brian Winterfeldt and Ilene Tannen.
