USPTO adds director at Texas regional office

The US Patent and Trademark Office has hired Hope Shimabuku as director of its regional office in Texas.

Shimabuku previously worked at Xerox Corporation, where she was vice president and corporate counsel, responsible for all intellectual property matters. She also worked as an engineer at consumer goods company Procter & Gamble.

The Dallas-based office, which opened last month, has Patent Trial and Appeal Board judges and is expected to hire more patent examiners in January next year.
