The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has announced the hiring of Cameron Elliot as an administrative law judge (ALJ).
According to a USITC press release issued yesterday, April 1, Elliot will preside over hearings and make initial determinations in cases relating to unfair practices in import trade.
Elliot had previously served as an ALJ at the US Securities and Exchange Commission since 2011.
He has also had stints as a US district attorney, in both the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of Florida.
Elliot made headlines in 2014 when he imposed a six-month US industry suspension on the Chinese offices of KPMG, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst and Young accounting firms.
The case related to a dispute with the SEC over access to audits.
Elliot also worked as an attorney at New York IP firm Darby & Darby, and for the civil litigation division of the US Department of Justice.
