The USCO’s new appointee, who brings private-practice experience, begins her new role this week.
Emily Chapuis has begun her new role as deputy general counsel at the US Copyright Office (USCO).
Chapuis (pictured) who commenced her employment at the USCO yesterday, March 13, will assist the general counsel and associate register of copyrights in providing legal guidance to the Office’s divisions, implementing regulations governing the administration of the copyright system, advising congressional offices and other federal agencies, and developing legal positions in copyright litigation and other matters.
Previously, she spent 12 years in private practice at Jenner & Block. As a commercial litigator and a partner in the firm’s Content, Media, and Entertainment group, Chapuis developed expertise in copyright law, including music licensing, rate-setting, and copyright infringement matters.
