Latham & Watkins has announced that Sarang Damle, general counsel and associate register of copyrights at the US Copyright Office, will be joining the firm in September.
Damle, who will be a partner in Latham & Watkins’ IP litigation practice, will be based in Washington, DC. His work will focus on copyright litigation and regulatory matters.
At the US Copyright Office, he assisted with shaping regulations and dispute resolution. He also advised and assisted the US Department of Justice and other federal agencies in relation to copyright policy.
Michael Egge, managing partner of the firm’s Washington, DC office, said Damle is a “game-changer in the copyright space because of his unique and varied insight and experience across copyright policy, regulation and federal court litigation”.
Damle said: “I look forward to collaborating with my Latham colleagues on some of the most cutting-edge and crucial legal matters facing clients.”
