Trump announces IP professor in latest judicial nominations
US President Donald Trump has revealed his eighth wave of judicial candidate nominations, with an IP professor among the latest batch of nine.
If confirmed, Ryan Holte will serve as a judge on the US Court of Federal Claims.
Holte currently serves as an associate professor of law and the director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Law at the University of Akron in Ohio.
He also serves as general counsel, partner and co-inventor of an electrical engineering technology company.
Holte previously clerked for Judge Stanley Birch at the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Judge Loren Smith of the US Court of Federal Claims.
In a statement on the University of Akron website, dean of the School of Law Christopher Peters described Holte as a “cutting-edge scholar and a dedicated teacher”.
“We are proud to have Professor Holte continuing to lead our highly rated IP programme while his confirmation process moves forward. He will be an outstanding judge.”
A list of the other eight candidates can be found here.
