Ropes & Gray adds Lin in Shanghai

Ropes & Gray has signed up intellectual property lawyer Geoffrey Lin for its newly opened Shanghai office, the firm announced in September.

Lin was previously a partner in Hogan Lovells LLP’s Shanghai office. He joins Ropes & Gray as a partner.

Lin has handled non-contentious and contentious IP matters in Asia and further afield. He focuses on structuring licensing agreements and technology transfers as well as protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights.

Ropes & Gray’s Shanghai-based partner Arthur Mok said: “Intellectual property is typically the core component of deals in the life sciences industry in China. Lin is one of a handful of IP lawyers in China with experience in structuring the transfer of those IP assets, and his knowledge adds an important aspect to the counsel Ropes & Gray provides clients on their transactions.”
