Pepper Hamilton lands in Silicon Valley

Pepper Hamilton LLP has opened a new IP office in the hi-tech hub of Silicon Valley, California.

Three partners – Gregory Bishop, Thomas Fitzpatrick and Andy Chan – who have moved from Goodwin Procter LLP will open the office, based in Redwood City.

Bishop (pictured below, left), who heads up the new office, specialises in patent litigation between technology companies in sectors such as computers and electronics.

With all-round IP experience, Fitzpatrick (pictured below, middle) focuses his practice on patent and trademark litigation, as well as technology licensing.

Chan (pictured below, right) specialises in patent disputes in the biotechnology, chemical and IT fields.

Pepper Hamilton’s chief executive Scott Green said: “While Pepper Hamilton has long had a presence in southern California, the northern part of the state is strategically important as it is where many of our clients are based. We are especially pleased that three of the top IP litigators in the country will help us grow there.”

Louis Freeh, executive committee chairman, added: "The opening of a Silicon Valley office by Pepper Hamilton serves two strategic goals. Not only are we expanding our national intellectual property footprint, but we’re also underscoring our full range of offerings in California, which includes IP, health care and financial services.”

Elsewhere in California, Pepper Hamilton has offices in Orange County and Los Angeles.
