Latham & Watkins appoints FTC deputy director

Latham & Watkins has announced that the acting deputy director of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) bureau of competition has rejoined the firm.

Alan Devlin, who was an associate at the firm for nearly four years before leaving in 2015, rejoins as a counsel in the global antitrust and competition practice in the litigation and trial department.

Devlin focuses his practice on merger control filings and clearances, as well as appeals and IP.

He has also taught IP law at a range of universities and published several books.

“It was a privilege to work with the talented professionals at the FTC,” he said in a statement.

He added: “I look forward to continuing to do so, albeit in a different capacity, as I help my clients to navigate their most challenging business questions.”
