Kirkland partner joins Neal Gerber in Chicago

Ian Block has joined Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s Chicago office, after spending six years as a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.

Block’s practice focuses on trademarks and trade dress, although he has litigated a range of IP mat-ters covering utility and design patents, and copyright. His trademark work includes clearance, pros-ecution, and enforcement.

He also assists clients with building a brand and portfolio management, as well as with the IP as-pects of corporate transactions, such as licences.

Over his career, Block has litigated before federal courts, the US International Trade Commission, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Michael Kelber, co-chair of the firm’s IP practice group, said: “His presence deepens our litigation bench and further strengthens our ability to serve the IP needs of our clients through the US and around the world.”
