Jones Day adds IP partner from Perkins Coie

Jones Day has added Michael Oblon as a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office.

Oblon’s practice focuses primarily on patent and trade secrets litigation in the software, electronics and electromechanical sectors.

He previously served as a partner at Perkins Coie from 2006, and founded the firm’s east coast IP practice.

An experienced litigator, Oblon has represented clients in state and federal district courts, as well as the US International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Kevyn Orr, partner-in-charge at the firm’s Washington, DC office, said that “Michael’s arrival illustrates Jones Day's commitment to adding premier legal talent that helps our clients...effectively meet their challenges in today's complex, dynamic business environment”.

Anthony Insogna, head of Jones Day’s global IP practice, added that “as innovation continues to drive the global economy, it is essential to provide our clients with counsellors, like Michael, who have deep experience litigating highly technical patent and trade secret cases”.
