IP licensing director leaves BlackBerry
Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry has lost one of its patent licensing directors who was tasked with monetising the company’s IP.
Victor Schubert confirmed to Reuters he is no longer with the company. He did not say when he left or why, it was reported late last week.
Schubert’s exit follows the departure of Mark Kokes, who led the company’s overall patent strategy. He joined a health technology company last month.
News of the departures follows recent success for BlackBerry’s licensing efforts.
Just last week the company confirmed that it had agreed a licensing deal with Android handset maker Blu Products.
Although exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, BlackBerry said it would receive ongoing payments.
BlackBerry had filed two patent infringement lawsuits against Blu last year.
