Hogan Lovells hires IP lawyer as managing partner for Germany

Law firm Hogan Lovells has appointed IP lawyer Stefan Schuppert to the newly-created role of managing partner for Germany.

Schuppert, who joined the law firm in 1996, is an IP lawyer with a background in both German and US law. He has experience in advising clients in areas such as privacy regulation, big data, digital health and e-commerce.

In taking up this new role, Schuppert will step down as office managing partner (OMP) in Munich.

Schuppert said: “Clients appreciate having a strong German practice behind them and particularly appreciate how well that team works with other international offices and colleagues.”

Heiko Tschauner will take over Schuppert’s role as OMP in Munich. Tschauner joined Hogan Lovells in 1999 and was made a partner in 2006.

Steve Immelt, CEO of Hogan Lovells, said: “We have significantly grown our German practice over the last three years, with revenue growing to €196 million ($230 million).

“It’s a critical region to the firm’s global strategy and Stefan is an excellent choice for leading the team in this newly-created role,” he added.
