Dorsey & Whitney partner joins Eversheds as head of IP
Cedric Lam, previously a partner at international firm Dorsey & Whitney, has joined Eversheds Sutherland as head of IP in China.
Lam has advised multinational corporations across a range of sectors on how to acquire, maintain, and protect IP, as well as on licensing strategies. He has also counselled private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) firms on IP investments in China.
In addition to his role as head of IP, Lam joins the firm as a partner in Eversheds’ corporate team.
Stephen Mok, head of the firm’s corporate practice in Asia, said: “He brings a new dimension of experience to our practice given his work with many leading multinationals on their IP needs in the region and his advisory work with large global PE and VC firms."
Eversheds has offices in Beijing and Shanghai in China.
Eversheds said that Lam’s appointment comes at a time of increased demand for IP services in Asia as the trade tension between the US and China continues to escalate; the US has recently imposed a 25% tariff on $50 billion of goods from China in response to alleged IP theft and unfair trade practices.
