DLA Piper strengthens media, sport and entertainment team

DLA Piper has hired the former chair of Perkins Coie’s media and entertainment litigation practice and a partner from Kelley Drye & Warren.

Michael Garfinkel, who previously worked at Perkins Coie, joins DLA Piper’s media, sport and entertainment practice as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

He has represented motion picture studios, TV networks and production companies in a range of matters, including trade secrets.

Miles Cooley, who joins from Kelley Drye & Warren in the same role as Garfinkel, focuses his practice on litigation for major corporations, high net-worth individuals, and entrepreneurs in the sports, entertainment and media industries.

Frank Ryan, co-chair of DLA Piper’s US and global IP and technology practices, said: “Their skills are ideally suited to strengthen DLA Piper’s current entertainment and media offerings in Los Angeles and beyond.”
