DLA Piper names former Navy officer as Austin co-managing partner

DLA Piper has announced that former US Navy surface line officer John Guaragna has been appointed co-managing partner of the firm’s Austin office.

Guaragna served in the Navy for seven years before joining DLA Piper in 1998, and focuses his practice on IP counselling, litigation and technology.

He has represented clients at the International Trade Commission and in various district courts.

Guaragna also has experience in the intersection between patent and antitrust law, including a three-month antitrust trial before the Federal Trade Commission.

He will join John Gilluly, who serves as managing partner for the firm’s Texas offices.
