Canon granted preliminary injunction in Germany
Japanese company Canon has been granted a preliminary injunction against Printperfect for patent infringement at the Düsseldorf District Court.
The complaint was based on the infringement of the German portion of Canon’s European patent number EP 2 087 407, relating to a drum unit and a process cartridge, according to a statement released by the company.
It stated: “The preliminary injunction enjoins Printperfect from offering and distributing laser toner cartridges comprising a drum unit with a certain coupling member.”
Printperfect runs various online stores on websites including Amazon and sells ink toner cartridges for a variety of printers. The Amazon store is still currently accepting orders.
“The mentioned cartridges can replace the cartridge models HP CF226X and HP CF287A compatible with HP laser beam printers,” Canon added.
“Printperfect Ltd and its managing directors have accepted the preliminary injunction as final and binding,” it concluded.
