Barnes & Thornburg adds brand protection partner to LA office

US-based firm  Barnes & Thornburg has hired a partner to its IP practice in Los Angeles.

Seth Gold, who joins the firm from  K&L Gates focuses his practice on brand protection, copyright and trademark infringement, transactions and advertising.

He is experienced in working with a broad range of companies, from those in emerging technology to media and entertainment. He has also handled disputes relating to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Federal Trade Commission and the Communications Decency Act.

Julia Gard, chair of the firm’s IP department, said Gold has “deep experience litigating copyright and trademark infringement matters, as well as trade secret disputes, and brings a wealth of knowledge related to those proceedings”.

“For many emerging companies in California, their intellectual property is their most valuable asset and Seth is a fierce defender of those assets,” she added.

David Allen, managing partner of the Los Angeles office welcomed the addition: “Gold is a highly-regarded and well-established practitioner in Los Angeles’ entertainment and technology industries.

“The breadth and depth of Gold’s experience is impressive, as is the high-calibre legal service he offers to clients operating in this competitive marketplace,” he said.
