Ashurst boosts IP practice Down Under with Deacons hire
Nina Fitzgerald has joined Ashurst as a partner in Sydney, after spending three years as a senior associate at Deacons in Hong Kong.
Fitzgerald has a diverse IP practice covering patents, trademarks, copyright, designs, passing off, and Australian consumer law. She specialises in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, with a particular focus on copyright and trademark litigation.
Her clients come from a variety of sectors, including technology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, luxury brands, and finance. Fitzgerald has advised clients in these fields on the relationship between IP and privacy and advertising laws.
Fitzgerald, who joins the firm as a partner, said: “I am incredibly excited about joining such an impressive team and look forward to the opportunity to help to grow the IP capability further.”
In addition to her work at Deacons, Fitzgerald spent eight years with Herbert Smith Freehills in Australia and then in Hong Kong.
Lea Constantine, co-head of Ashurst’s disputes practice, said: “Nina has significant experience across all areas of IP, with a particular focus in pharmaceuticals and technology, which is a perfect complement to our existing offering. We are delighted to welcome Nina to the team and are confident that she will make a significant contribution in further developing our IP practice in Australia.”
