AIPPI appoints Arno Hold as executive director
Arno Hold will join AIPPI as executive director at its Zurich headquarters, Switzerland, on August 27.
John Bochnovic resigned from the position in February to return to his native Canada. His resignation, which became effective on April 30, came after around three years in the post.
The IP association said that Hold was selected from more than 50 candidates. He was eventually chosen due to his level of energy, new ideas, and initiative. The organisation believes this combination will be positive for AIPPI’s development.
Before joining AIPPI, Hold was the dean of external relations, a member of the president’s board and a lecturer on international trade at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
His other positions have been in a mixture of academic and governmental organisations in Europe and Asia, including several assignments related to international IP policy development and education.
The association said that Hold’s policy and network experience is expected to aid AIPPI in leveraging its work.
Of his appointment, Hold said: “I consider it a great privilege to serve one of the world’s leading international non-governmental organisations dedicated to the development and improvement of legal regimes for IP protection.”
Hao Ma, president of AIPPI, said: “We are confident that Arno Hold’s expertise and experience will greatly assist AIPPI in pursuing its core objective of improving and promoting IP, through its influence with national and regional legislative bodies, IP offices and courts, and we look forward to working with Arno for the benefit of all AIPPI members and the association.”
The next AIPPI World Conference will take place in Cancun, Mexico in September.
