Pryor Cashman hires media and entertainment heads from Stroock

Two leading entertainment lawyers have joined US-based firm Pryor Cashman as partners.

James Sammataro, who previously led the media and entertainment practice at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, will now co-lead the media group at Pryor Cashman out of the firm’s Los Angeles and Miami offices.

He has experience representing media clients, record labels, music publishers, celebrities and professional sports teams in high-profile disputes involving copyright, trademark, rights-of-publicity and First Amendment matters. He has also handled major entertainment deals on behalf of television and radio stations.

Hans Hertell, who also joins from Stroock, will be based in the Miami office. He also represents media and entertainment clients in IP-related matters and handles international disputes in arbitration.

Ronald Shechtman, managing partner of Pryor Cashman, welcomed the new partners.

Shechtman said: “James and Hans add strength to strength in our already formidable media and entertainment litigation practice. They expand our scope geographically, while at the same time complement our existing services and client base.”
