IP litigator to head up McGuireWoods Dallas office

McGuireWoods has appointed IP litigator Jason Cook as managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office.

Cook succeeds Akash Sethi who has served as managing partner since its launch in 2014. Under Sethi’s leadership, the Dallas office has grown from five partners to more than 40 lawyers.

According to the firm, the transition maintains McGuireWoods’ longstanding practice of regularly rotating key leadership roles.

J Tracy Walker, McGuireWoods’ managing partner, said: “Akash did an outstanding job leading our Dallas office during a period of tremendous growth. We know Jason will build on that success with the help of our deep and talented team of lawyers.”

Cook represents clients in patent cases in federal district and appellate courts throughout the US and before the International Trade Commission.

“Under Akash’s leadership, the Dallas office developed into a thriving office with local, national and international clients,” Cook said. “I hope to work with the attorneys and staff to continue that growth and solidify McGuireWoods’ Dallas office as an amazing place to work and practice law.”
