Hogan Lovells hires Jones Day lawyers

Two former Jones Day lawyers have joined the IP, media and technology practice of Hogan Lovells in San Francisco.

Krista Schwartz, a first chair trial partner focused on IP litigation, handles patent, copyright, trade secret, and complex technology cases for technology companies.

She has experience in cases involving technologies such as search engines, semiconductors, cellular devices, and medical devices.

Patrick Michael is an IP/technology litigator who has tried multiple cases to verdict. He focuses on patent, copyright, and trade secret litigation, and technology-related disputes.

Michael’s clients include companies in the integrated circuit, software, computer networking, and medical device industries.

Schwartz and Michael said: “With the firm’s global presence and its commitment to the Northern California market, we have an incredible opportunity to build and support an elite IP practice and present our clients with additional on-the-ground services.”

Clay James, the office managing partner for Hogan Lovells’s San Francisco office, added: “They are a cultural fit, and as experienced first chair patent and technology litigators, their strong IP and technology litigation capabilities will be an asset to our clients in NorCal.”

Hogan Lovells has also boosted its life sciences expertise, with the addition of two partners in Boston. Sister site LSIPR will be reporting on this development later today.
