Awapatent expands IP department

Awapatent has appointed Thomas Ewing as a senior IP strategist to its IP strategy group.

He will work alongside Awapatent’s head of the IP strategy group, Henrik Olsson, to expand the group’s growing list of Scandinavian and international clients, and will be based in the Gothenburg office.

Ewing previously worked as an IP consultant and commercial lawyer at IP management consultancy Avancept.

Olsson commented: “With Tom onboard, we are set for a rapid expansion of our strategy services throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.”

Ewing has over 25 years’ of experience in the IP sector and is a commercial lawyer, registered patent attorney and IP counsellor. His role at Awapatent will see him advise companies on different aspects of IP strategies, as well as counselling investors in better understanding the IP aspects of their investment targets.

He has experience advising international organisations, government agencies, universities, multinational corporations and financial institutions, alongside conducting IP work for Apple, Samsung, Micron and Netflix.
