Saul Ewing adds two to Boston life sciences practice

Saul Ewing LLP has recruited Peter Lauro and Melissa Hunter-Ensor as partners to its Boston life sciences practice.

Lauro and Hunter-Ensor join from Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP. Both have worked with clients in a range of life sciences sectors,  assessing the IP risks of investments, conducting patent and licensing due diligence for technology transactions and providing opinions and analyses on patentability, infringement, validity and freedom to operate.

Lauro has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and has worked as a clinical microbiologist and research chemist, and Hunter-Ensor has a degree in chemistry and a doctorate in neuroscience.

Deborah Spranger,  co-chair of Saul Ewing LLP’s life sciences practice, said the partners’ addition  is part of a plan to expand the firm’s life sciences offering in the Boston area.

“Because of the strength of our existing practice and the fact that three of the largest life sciences hubs in the nation are encompassed within our regional footprint, the life sciences has been and continues to be a strategic focus of the firm.”

“Since we opened a Boston office two years ago, we have been looking for the proper entry into the local life sciences community, and we believe we have found it in these experienced practitioners who have deep roots and a strong commitment to the Boston area," she added.

Saul Ewing LLP has 240 attorneys and 11 offices along the US east coast.
