NSA updates patent portfolio for licensing
The National Security Agency’s (NSA) Technology Transfer Program (TTP) has updated its portfolio of NSA patents available for licensing.
According to the NSA, a US government agency, the TTP creates partnerships between the agency and industry to ensure that the NSA’s investments in research find additional uses that will benefit the US economy.
The NSA said: “From digital camera fingerprinting to streamlined synchronisation of communication devices, the patent portfolio represents NSA’s premier innovations available for use in the private sector.”
In the portfolio, which covers big data, cyber, internet of things and mobility, the NSA gives step by step instructions on how to start licensing an NSA patent.
It encourages innovators to browse the patents, build their own company using the NSA technology and acquire the suitable technology.
The NSA is responsible for global monitoring and processing of information for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes.
Sudesh Kumar, CEO of Kupalya, a company that licenses from the NSA, called the portfolio a “game changer”.
He added: “The next generation of our data encryption app will have NSA’s patented technology as the foundation.”
The portfolio is available here.
