Patents can be protected in the UAE through direct national filing, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which has a unified patent system for the six GCC countries: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.
