Knobbe Martens announces new IP partners

Six attorneys have been elected as new partners across two of the firm’s California offices.

Knobbe Martens has announced the election of six attorneys as partners in the firm’s Orange County and San Diego offices, effective from New Year’s Day this year.

Commenting on the new appointments, Knobbe Martens’ managing partner Steven Nataupsky said: “This group of accomplished attorneys showcases the firm’s breadth and depth of talent.

“All of them provide high-quality service to our clients, collaborate with their colleagues, and give back to their communities. They represent the future of our firm, and I could not be happier to welcome them to the partnership.”

The new partners combine expertise in a wide range of fields, with half holding advanced degrees in science and engineering fields.

Daniel Kiang, based in the firm’s Orange County office, represents clients in patent and trademark litigation matters, including before district courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), and the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

Based in the Orange County office, he has extensive experience enforcing and defending trademark and trade dress rights in US district courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board (TTAB).

Jamie Youngblood is a patent litigator with experience of preparing petitions to the PTAB. Based in the Orange County office, Youngblood has litigated cases across a range of technologies in the computer hardware, consumer electronics, and medical device fields.

Patent attorney Daniel Kamkar, who is based in the firm’s San Diego office, focuses on international patent prosecution and portfolio management, patent infringement and validity analyses, USPTO proceedings, and general IP licensing.

Albert Sueiras’s practice includes utility and design patent portfolio management in domestic and international jurisdictions, along with competitive landscape analysis, opinion work, and intellectual property due diligence.

Sueiras represents clients in a wide range of technologies, with an emphasis on medical devices and procedures. In the medical device field, he has worked extensively with vascular access and thrombus management devices, critical care devices, infusion technologies, neural-auditory stimulation, and topical wound therapy.

Sueiras also assists in providing resources for start-up medical device companies as an editor and routine author on the firm’s KnobbeMedical blog.
