Knobbe Martens, which celebrates its 55th anniversary this year, has more than 300 attorneys, five of whom are relocating to New York.
Robb Roby, partner at the firm, will lead the new office as managing partner.
Roby, who joined Knobbe Martens in 1997, represents clients in several technology areas and at various stages, from start-ups to multinational companies.
Tom Yee, a partner at the firm, will also join the New York office.
Yee focuses his practice on commercial IP value.
Three associates will also join the office: Dan Fischer, Zach Hong and Mitchell Hadley.
Steven Nataupsky, the firm’s managing partner, said: “Many of our clients are based in the tri-state area, and we’re experiencing increased demand for IP services there."
The tri-state area is New York's metropolitan area, which covers parts of the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
He added that Knobbe Martens is looking to enhance its current relationships in the region, as well as expanding its footprint in New York.
