McCarter & English adds Stroock & Stroock & Lavan partner

IP attorney brings over two decades of experience to New York office | Experience in financial services, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and technology industry sectors | Latest addition makes it five hires to McCarter’s IP team this year.

McCarter & English has appointed Jeffrey Mann as a partner in its IP practice group based in New York.

Mann makes the move from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan where he was partner in the firm’s New York office.

With two decades of experience in IP law, Mann’s appointment aims to guide clients through strategic transactions, optimise the value of their innovations, negotiate agreements, and monetise IP assets.

Jonathan Sparks, chair of McCarter's IP practice group, described Mann as a “sophisticated” attorney with “exceptional” experience in IP, privacy, and complex tech transactions.

“He is particularly skilled in focusing the business, technology, and legal parties on the broad-view goals of the transaction. That’s an incredibly valuable and important service for clients," he added.

Experienced with business-critical patents across the financial services, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and technology industry sectors, Mann advises on, negotiates, and structures license agreements; drafts opinions; and prosecutes patents and trademarks for industry-leading businesses and inventors.

He advises and conducts due diligence on the IP, information technology, and privacy aspects of corporate, financial restructuring, real estate, structured finance, and insurance transactions.

As an International Association of Privacy Professionals designated Certified Information Privacy Professional, Mann also advises on data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology matters, including data licensing, cloud services, and outsourcing issues.

He is a member of the IP transactions committee of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and is set to join the emerging issues committee of the International Trademark Association in 2024.

In addition to Mann, McCarter & English has made five additions to its IP team in 2023 including partners Michael Sartori; Alex Korona; James Smedley; Dave Christensen; and special counsel David Kincaid.
