Baker Botts names New York IP group chair
International law firm Baker Botts has appointed IP partner Robert Maier as chair of its New York IP group, effective from December 1, 2018.
He has taken over from Robert Scheinfeld, who held the position for 15 years. As an IP and patent trial lawyer, Maier represents multinational clients across a range of technologies from smartphones and display technologies to drink packaging and stem cells.
Maier has experience in litigation and regularly handles patent trial work for high-profile cases in district court and at the International Trade Commission. Aside from his work in litigation, he is skilled in patent preparation and prosecution, licensing and IP asset evaluation.
Scheinfeld, who will remain partner-in-charge of the firm’s New York office, said: “I have enjoyed leading the New York IP team and working to grow our business through a single focused commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations. Rob Maier is an outstanding lawyer and will do a tremendous job in continuing to grow the practice in the years to come.”
