Latham & Watkins secures Wilson Sonsini six
Six IP litigation partners have joined Latham & Watkins LLP in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the firm announced in April.
Roger Chin, Richard Frenkel, Julie Holloway, Terry Kearney, Michael Ladra and Ron Shulman join the firm from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
Chin and Holloway will be based in Latham & Watkins’ San Francisco office, while Frenkel, Kearney, Ladra and Shulman will be based in its Silicon Valley office.
Frenkel previously served as the director of intellectual property for consumer and emerging technologies at Cisco Systems, where he managed patent litigation, advised on patent assertions and purchasing, negotiated patent licences and provided counselling on IP strategy.
Shulman served as a member of the US District Court for the Northern District of California’s Attorney Advisory Committee. This was established to draft local rules for the administration of patent infringement actions in the district.
“The market for IP litigation continues to be strong,” said Bob Steinberg, the global co-chair of the Latham & Watkins’ IP litigation practice. “[T]his group of partners will add substantially to our reputation by helping us serve leading companies with their most challenging cases.”
Courtney Dorman, a Wilson Sonsini spokesperson, said: “We wish them the best. We’re fortunate to have an incredibly strong team of IP litigators on both coasts and have added key partners in that area recently. We will certainly continue to aggressively grow and invest in the practice moving forward.”
