Rosie Burbidge

Since joining Gunnercooke in October 2018, Rosie Burbidge has moved from being a senior associate to a partner who has built and manages a steady stream of work focused on design disputes, general IP disputes, and strategic advice. She is particularly well known in fashion industry circles due, in large part, to her industry-focused book “European Fashion Law: A Practical Guide from Start-up to Global Success”. Burbidge is a regular speaker at conferences, and presented on blockchain and the fashion industry during CITMA’s Spring conference. She is also a guest lecturer at Goldsmiths University, Southampton University and CASS Business School, in the UK. Throughout her career, Burbidge has worked on a variety of high-profile IP disputes including Superdry v Abercrombie & Fitch, a case involving unregistered design rights which was settled in 2015. During her time at Rouse, Burbidge expanded her knowledge from anti-counterfeiting actions, clearance and strategic advice to patent litigation concerning pharmaceuticals (including a suit over the patent to the anti-malarial, Malarone) and computer graphics (a dispute between Nintendo and Philips Electronics).
