Overview

Laura Collada has more than 25 years’ experience in intellectual property and is a managing partner at Dumont Bergman Bider & Co, where she has worked since 2000. She has taught copyright and industrial property law at various universities in Mexico City. She also worked as a director of the sub-office for the prevention of unfair competition at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property. Collada focuses her practice in the areas of fashion, media and telecommunications. She has written for our sister publication, World IP Review and is a member of INTA, Marques, AIPPI, ASIPI, PTMG, ECTA, AIPLA, among others.

Professional Highlights

  • She is proficient in IP Litigation. She won a GI case for Bureau National Interprofessionnel Du Cognac in the first semester of 2016.  She was the strategist of the case.
  • She was invited as speaker for UIA in Minneapolis and in Valencia, Spain (please check UIA website) and spoke about the Glass Ceiling, Social Media IP issues, and Sports Law.
  • She was elected national delegate for ASIPI.
  • She was again designated Co-Chair at committees at AIPPI, ASIPI, and MARQUES. She acted as an expert witness in Spain hired by Clifford Chance.
  • She co-authored the comments to the industrial property law, the commercial names chapter.
  • She co-authored the Mexican chapter on data protection of a book published in Europe.
  • DBB was chosen by AIPLA to organize the worldwide women’s event in Mexico.
