USITC investigates Toshiba and LG
The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has launched investigations into electronics companies Toshiba and LG.
Korea-based LG is being investigated because of a complaint by semiconductor company Broadcom centring on semiconductor devices and audiovisual products containing them.
The ITC instituted the investigation yesterday, April 6.
Broadcom also previously filed a patent infringement lawsuit at the US District Court for the Central District of California, Southern Division.
The patents—US numbers 8,284,844; 7,590,059; 8,068,171; 7,310,104; and 7,342,967—concern decoder systems, video graphics and video recording.
Japan-based Toshiba is also being investigated, because of a complaint concerning flash memory devices and products containing the devices.
Integrated device manufacturer Macronix brought the claim, alleging violation of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the US and sale of non-volatile memory devices and products.
Both complaints have requested that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order and a cease-and-desist order.
