SMEs targeted by IP insurance product

Two legal insurers have joined forces to offer protection to small and medium-sized enterprises that enforce their IP.

The insurance, provided by FirstAssist Legal Protection and Cobra Special Risks, is called Cobra Legal & IP Key Markets Protection.

Paul Wishart, director of Cobra Special Risks, said: “Securing trademarks and patenting new innovations in technology are critical but even more so is the protection against infringement and illegal use.”

Andy Glynne, head of product and pricing at FirstAssist, added: “We are ... providing bespoke cover for a range of clients in what is traditionally a niche and complex market. Our aim is to provide businesses with a simple and affordable means to pursue justice when assets critical to their long term profitability are challenged.”

Both companies are based in the UK.
