Clyde & Co hires IP partner in Middle East

Clyde & Co has expanded its IP practice with the appointment of a partner in the Middle East region.

Mark Devaney joins the firm from IP boutique firm Bone-Knell Symons Intellectual Property in Dubai. Before that, he spent 18 years in London with Gill Jennings & Every.

In his role, Devaney will focus on work related to trademark registration across Clyde & Co’s network of offices in the Middle East.

He focuses his practice on brand protection, including trademark filing strategy, trademark selection and prosecution, validity and oppositions.

Clyde & Co said it is now the only firm in the region which offers a full service across the entire IP life cycle, with each area of IP being partner-led.

Rob Deans, partner in the Middle East, said: “As the UAE and wider Middle East become increasingly strategically important to global companies, the need for regional IP protection across the region continues to grow in line with business activity.”

Devaney added: “I am looking forward to bringing my trademark knowledge and experience to a firm with such an extensive and established network.”
