Canon snaps at cartridge seller in patent infringement suit

Technology company Canon has filed a patent infringement suit against J&H Greentech & Trading at the Court of Rome.

Canon alleged that the UK-based firm, dealing under the name Prestige Cartridge, has infringed the Italian portion of Canon’s European patent number 2 087 407 by offering and selling toner cartridges for use in various models of Canon and HP laser beam printers.

In the announcement, made yesterday, August 31, Canon also said that it had requested a preliminary injunction and seizure of infringing products.

“Throughout the development, sales and marketing process, Canon respects the intellectual property rights of other companies and individuals and expects others to do the same,” said the technology company.

“Canon remains committed to taking legal action against anyone who does not respect Canon’s intellectual property rights.”
