Cambodia’s accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) was confirmed yesterday.
The accession document was delivered in person by Cambodia’s minister of industry and handicraft, Cham Prasidh, to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s director general, Francis Gurry.
Cambodia is the 151st member to join the PCT, which will help the country’s inventors in seeking patent protection for their inventions internationally.
The accession to the PCT will also help Cambodia with its patent-granting decisions, and provide access to technical information relating to inventions.
The PCT will enter into force in Cambodia on December 8, 2016.
